This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of typography, its theory, technology, history, and contemporary practice. Projects will explore the study of letterforms, text composition, layout and page systems, expressive typography, proportion and girds, hierarchy, and legibility. The topics covered by this course will be taught through lectures, demonstrations, critiques, in-outside-class studio activities.
