Magazines are a combination of many carefully designed components, from glamorous covers and feature stories to humble photo captions and page numbers. In this course, we will examine the historical roots and contemporary practice of magazine design. This is a studio course in which students will develop their skills in magazine design. Students will learn how to organize concepts, content, sections, and sequence to develop readable extended text in a hierarchical format. Students will study commercial magazine design practices to lay out a magazine.
